End-of-Summer-Shandy

Here at Upward, we love a good Shandy.  This drink is a classic mix consisting of 1/2 beer and 1/2 of a non-alcoholic mixer (usually lemonade).  This is a quintessential summer drink and we’re going to show you a few ways to make it over the coming weeks!

Fun Shandy fact: This drink was created by Franz Xavier Kugler in Bavaria in 1922.  He was serving beer to a large group of cyclists and was afraid he might run out of booze, so he cut it with lemonade to make it last.  The cyclists LOVED it!!  The rest is history.

Shandy

  • Beer of your choice (we recommend Dale’s Pale Ale)
  • Lemonade
  • A cold pint glass
  1. Pour an equal, 50/50 mix of beer and lemonade into your cold pint glass.
  2. Garnish with lemon peel and enjoy!!

Next week we’ll show you how to take this drink south of the border!
