What is one of your favorite quotes?

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

If you could see 24 hours into the future what would you do with this ability?

I would check the weather to see where I would want to travel to next.

If you could have a drink with someone from history who would it be?

 My great grandmother.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

My experience with school and working two jobs has made me stronger.

Which would you rather have, 100 million dollars or true love?

True love.

Upward Comedy: Kristin Humphrey

Please give a warm welcome to the one and the only:Hump2Kristin Humphrey!

Kristin plays a dynamic role as server/bartender at Postino Central. She was recently awarded MVP for the Quarter because of her untouchable energy, ability to continually cast light over her team members, and production of ever-lasting experiences with guests. (No, literally there are guests who are never going to forget her…)

With a little help from some co-workers, Kristin has decided to steal the scene on a different stage: stand-up comedy. She’s never been one for stage fright, so when handed a mic, she took it and ran. Performing 2-3 nights a week, she channels her passion for making people laugh, combined with her free spirit, into quite possibly her favorite hobby.

This coming Friday, February 27th, Kristin will be performing at Stand Up Scottsdale’s You’ve Got the Goods! Come out and support one of our talented team members.

Can’t wait to see Kristin preform live THIS FRIDAY? Get the down low here!

MVP: James Anderson

James-Anderson-MVP

Young James (who is not so young anymore) started with Upward Projects 4 years ago and has become a staple behind the bar.

James started at Windsor, helped open Federal Pizza and Joyride Eastside, and is now full-time behind the bar at Joyride Central. Amongst his success with our company, most recently, he not only received MVP of the Quarter, but was also awarded “Best Beverage Knowledge for 2014” at Joyride Central. Try saying all of that in one breath…

Here are a few interesting facts about him that you may not know!

1. What song always makes you happy when you hear it?

Tame Impaula – Mind Mischief, hands down. Every time.

2. What do you love most about being a bartender?

Aside from talking to all of the interesting people that sit at the bar at our concepts, I am truly passionate about making drinks that people thoroughly enjoy. The expression on a person’s face when they love something they have never tried before, makes me feel so great!!

3. What do you currently have as the wallpaper of your cell phone?

Third Eye Chakra

4. Would you rather have legs as long as your fingers, or fingers as long as your legs?

Ew. If I absolutely had to choose, I’d have to go with fingers as long as my legs. It kind of reminds me of that guy who was in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest fingernails… that’s what I would envision for myself.

5. Who is your all-time idol?

Rick Rubin. He’s an American record producer, co-founder for Def Jam Records and involved with so many other things – just an incredible dude. He discovered the Beastie Boys & Red Hot Chili Peppers… how could he not be my idol? He also does a lot for the community and is passionate about everything he does.

MVP: Alexa Evans

Postino Central recently selected their quarterly MVP’s and today, we are going to spotlight one of their top players: Alexa Evans!

AE-MVP

 1. If you could have lunch with anyone alive or dead who would it be and why?

I would love to dine with Julia Child. She is so inspiring to me, both in the kitchen and generally just getting things done. She did everything in her own way and I love that. I just want to sit with her and hear all her secrets and stories.

2. What’s one habit you are proudest of breaking?

I’ve stopped throwing EVERYTHING in the trash and started paying more attention to what was recyclable or reusable.

3. Who made the last incoming call on your phone?

Bon Bon, a.k.a. my mother. She refuses to be called grandmother so Delta (my 2yr old son) & I decided Bon Bon was appropriate.

4. What is the first thing you think when you wake up in the morning?

WHERE’S DELTA? WHERE ARE MY GLASSES? And then I find them both lying right next to me and all is right with the world again.

5. Would you rather have toes for teeth or fingers for hair?

Gag. Fingers for hair obviously. I’d have the finest struggle bun on the block! And could you imagine eating with toenails in your mouth let alone toes…?! Gross.

XOXO Alexa

Do you save trinkets and mementos?  If yes, do you have a favorite?

I don’t save too many things, although I’ve had this toy Giraffe for a solid 8 years…  I don’t even know where that little guy came from.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?

Can you imagine having a miniature horse in your backyard?!  Way too cute.

What is your favorite grab n’ go meal?

A Lunchable.  Without a doubt.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Love.

Would you rather stare at the sun for 2 minutes or drink a gallon of boiling water?

Oh dude.  Stare at the sun!  I’ve definitely tried before.
